Mr. Morriss antidote is almost done fusing successfully. Are you really going to leave?

Vera Wilson stood in front of the experiment table and nodded. After her fifth miscarriage surgery, her face looked unnaturally pale.

Everyone in the capital knew that Vera was the student Caius Morris treasured the most.

However, after that night five years ago, nothing stayed the same.

Caius had been drugged with a rare aphrodisiac. From then on, every month, he needed to sleep with the woman who had shared his bed during the first month.

Back when Vera willingly became his antidote that night, she likely never imagined it would lead to this outcome.

Night after night, she suffered under Caiuss hatred.

Vera, you know I hate women who do everything they can just to climb into my bed.

And that was not all. To punish her, Caius married Ophelia Chavez in a lavish wedding the next day. Ophelia had bullied Vera for ten years.

The pain from her lower abdomen made Vera stumble backward against the experiment table.

Test tubes broke all over the floor. Caius merely narrowed his eyes and gave her a cold glance.

Stop pretending. Acting pitifully is useless. I spent five years training you, not for you to fail at the most important moment.

Vera gave a bitter smile and slowly pushed herself back to her feet. The phone Caius had left on the table suddenly vibrated.

Caius, our daughter has a fever. When are you coming back?

At that moment, Vera felt as though a knife had painfully carved flesh out of her heart.

But it no longer mattered.

The antidote was almost done fusing. Soon, she would finally be free.

Following the fifth miscarriage, Vera stood in front of the laboratory operating table, her face terribly white.

To cover the weakness left after the miscarriage, she could only force herself to come back and help Caius finish the last group of experiments.

Three years ago, Caius had been drugged with a rare aphrodisiac medicine, and Vera, who happened to walk past, accidentally became the antidote for him.

Unexpectedly, the medicine turned out to be long-lasting, and every month he needed to sleep with the woman who had first cured him.

On every night that nearly crushed Vera apart, the mans harsh movements carried a hatred that couldnt be described clearly.

Yet Vera silently endured it all without complaints.

Because she had already deeply fallen in love with this man in her heart, her older professor.

Right then, the laboratory door got pushed open, and Caius entered with coldness surrounding his whole body.

He remained the same elegant and clean Professor Morris, the eyes behind the gold-rimmed glasses distant and sensible.

When he passed beside Vera, the man didnt even spare her a second glance.

Veras hand holding the test tube trembled. The painful cramps in her lower stomach almost made her collapse.

She raised her head and stared at his handsome face, her voice sounding weak.

Teacher, theres nothing wrong with the data. But I dont feel well physically, and Id like to ask for leave to go home and rest.

Caius stopped moving the mouse. He lifted his head and looked over Veras pale lips, but his voice carried no sympathy at all.

Vera, I spent five years teaching you, not for you to fall apart at a critical moment.

This problem only needs a few hours to solve, but the moment we start, you already want to use your suffering to receive special treatment?

The word problem painfully struck Veras ears.

She had once thought that even if they didnt marry, after she miscarried five children for him, he would at least feel slightly affected.

Im not trying to get special treatment.

Vera held back the salty taste rising in her throat.

I just really hurt.

If you feel pain, then take painkillers.

Caius stood and walked over to her. His slim fingers strongly held her chin, forcing her to lift her head.

Since the day you drugged me and got into my bed, I stopped having feelings for you. Its a good thing the child is gone. Your dirty thoughts about me can finally be cut off.

Vera remained still while listening to those heartless and distant words.

In the next moment, the phone on the table shook once.

Because the space between them was close, she clearly saw the text message.

Caius, daughter has a fever. When are you coming back?

It was sent by Ophelia.

That name became like a painful thorn buried in Veras heart, one that could never be taken out again.

Five years earlier, Vera and Caius spent one wild night together.

But the following day, Caius brought Ophelia to register their marriage, and less than a month later, he held a huge wedding that shook all of Garden City.

Caius was the top surgeon in the capital, and many people fought for the chance to study under him.

Five years earlier, Vera and Ophelia, known as the Holland Surgery Twin Flowers, became Caiuss interns after passing many rounds of selection.

The kind of people I dislike most are shameless people who use dirty tricks.

The first time Vera heard those words was during her first meeting with Caius. It was his warning to her.

The second time she heard those words was on the bed after Caius had been drugged. That time, it became her punishment.

Vera couldnt understand why that single night changed so many things.

Before that night, she had been the young student Caius cared about the most.

Resources, contacts, money, anything she asked for, Caius handed to her.

He even willingly let her rise higher by using his own position to support her.

When Veras experiment ran into problems, Caius immediately pushed aside a lecture worth seven figures just to stay beside her.

When Vera was wrongly blamed for plagiarism, Caius sent that person to prison the same night.

People in the academic world all knew how much Caius treasured this young student.

Until that night came, and he announced that he was completely cutting ties with Vera.

After that, every bit of hate fell onto Vera.

Envy, revenge, and rejection pushed down on her until she almost stopped breathing, just like now when she saw the message on Caiuss phone.

After that crazy night, Vera asked him why he had to marry Ophelia and why that person had to be her.

More than twenty years of Veras life had passed under Ophelias bullying.

Although Vera scored 15 points above Ophelia in the college entrance exam, Ophelia sent her to a factory in the suburbs and locked her up for 15 days.

Only because Veras graduation project earned a higher score than Ophelias and received an award, Ophelia immediately hired people to kidnap her and break her hand.

Vera would never forget the scene after she entered Caiuss house, when he slapped Ophelia in public to protect her.

She also would never forget that night when she desperately asked him for the reason, and Caius answered, I love her.

Vera couldnt understand why one night together erased the feelings between them for the past three years, and why he later turned to say he loved Ophelia.

Even after Caius announced his marriage, outsiders still believed that Vera was the woman he would marry.

Ophelia called once more to hurry him, and the childs innocent voice came through the phone.

If the baby inside Vera hadnt been aborted, the child shouldve been around this age, too.

Every time Vera thought about that child, her tears fell uncontrollably.

Before Caius left, he set a bank card in front of her.

Why cry? Is it because I didnt pay you last time?

At the normal price, a night with someone like you is worth two thousand.

After speaking, Caius walked out without turning back.

Vera firmly squeezed the card, and the corner painfully dug into her hand.

Since that night, she had stayed beside Caius. Every full moon each month, he harshly wanted her once.

Using money to insult her wasnt something new anymore. She shouldve already accepted it by now.

Still, hearing those words from Caius made her chest hurt.

Vera remained beside the experiment table, forcing herself to bear the pain in her lower stomach while placing the last result into the incubator.

The antidote for the aphrodisiac medicine inside Caiuss body was stored there.

Looking at the fused result inside the incubator, Vera slowly forced out a faint smile.

Once she finished preparing the remaining experiment materials, the woman returned home.

Although she called it home, it was really just a cage Caius used to lock her inside.

Other than the laboratory, this was the only place she could remain.

The moon tonight was full, and Caius came back.

I just finished a miscarriage surgery. Can we stop earlier tonight?

In the dark room, Veras shaky voice quietly sounded out.

Yet Caiuss actions still carried no softness at all.

The more she pleaded with him, the harsher Caius became.

Vera knew this was punishment against her because she loved him.

Still, it no longer mattered. This suffering would only happen one final time.

It was almost complete. Seven days later, once the medicine fully blended inside the incubator, the antidote would be successful.

And she, the antidote, would finally be released.

Caius kept hurting her until sunrise before he finally stopped.

When it was over, Caius didnt spare Vera another look. He turned around and headed straight to the bathroom.

Vera dragged her exhausted body and pulled the blanket over herself to hide her ruined state.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom, and every drop felt like a knife stabbing into her pride.

Caius hated her because he thought she was dirty.

After their first night together, Caius scrubbed himself in the bathroom until his skin started bleeding.

The second time, Caius would rather suffer through the pain than touch her. In the end, when he was close to passing out, Vera chose to help him herself.

Later, Caius realized fighting it was pointless. Every time after sleeping with her, he would repeatedly wash himself until none of her scent stayed on his body.

The bedroom door opened, and Ophelia walked in while holding a bowl of medicine.

She sat beside the bed and looked over Vera with disgust in her eyes. Looks like this time you didnt get tortured until you passed out. Drink it.

It was contraceptive medicine.

The drug inside Caiuss body was too powerful. Every time, Vera would suffer until she fainted, and afterward, Ophelia would force the medicine into her mouth.

This was the first time Vera drank the medicine while fully awake.

For five years, she drank medicine every time after it ended, yet she still became pregnant five times.

Vera opened her mouth and swallowed a large mouthful, but after one sip, she immediately noticed something was wrong.

This wasnt contraceptive medicine.

It was an herbal root soup, a medicine used to help prepare for pregnancy.

Veras eyes widened in shock as she stared at Ophelia. Then she threw the bowl in her hand onto the floor.

The bowl broke apart, and the medicine spread everywhere across the ground.

This isnt contraceptive medicine.

Watching her reaction, Ophelia smiled. Only after losing five children do you finally react, Sister Vera. Thats all you can do.

Those words stabbed into Veras heart like a bloody knife.

Those five children werent roadside weeds or flowers. There were five living children.

Even the last child had almost fully formed already.

A loud slap suddenly sounded.

Vera lifted her hand and slapped Ophelia across the face.

But one slap wasnt enough. It could never repay the lives of her five children.

Before Vera could react again, Ophelia lightly pushed her, and she instantly rolled off the bed.

Right now, Vera was far too weak. That slap earlier had already drained the last bit of her strength.

Sister Vera, do you really think all I can do is make you drink pregnancy medicine?

Ophelia lifted her eyebrows and looked back at her.

Why is it that even though we started from the same place, Caius is always the one choosing you?

Why am I not worse than you, yet youre always the one receiving the awards?

Why do you always have to be better than me in everything? Even when it came to getting pregnant with Giselle, it took me two whole years! But you only needed two months for your first pregnancy!

At first, I only planned to make you miscarry once to get revenge, and I thought that would be enough. But it wasnt enough!

As Vera listened to Ophelias words, she tightly bit her lips, while her eyes showed nothing except fear and shock.

You already think this is terrifying?

Sister Vera, let me tell you something. Not only those five miscarried children, but even these three years of suffering were gifts I personally gave you.

Veras entire body shook as she collapsed onto the floor.

It was you You drugged him, and you were the one who pushed me into his room

The truth was already so close.

Vera struggled up from the ground and quickly ran toward the doorway.

She wanted to tell Caius everything, wanted to explain the truth clearly, wanted to prove her innocence, and wanted to leave this nightmare behind.

Caius Caius, can you hear me? I didnt intentionally climb into your bed

Yet before she even walked out the door, Ophelia struck her across the face.

Veras sight suddenly darkened. Her body had already become too weak to endure another slap, and she immediately fell backward onto the floor.

When Vera finally regained consciousness and opened her eyes again, Caius already stood before her.

Caius, I

Before Vera could finish speaking, Caius suddenly grabbed her by the neck.

Vera, this is the last time Im warning you. Dont say my name again. Hearing it from you disgusts me.

After that night, Caius never allowed her to call him by his name again.

The only way she could address him was teacher.

Teacher, I didnt purposely get into your bed. She was the one who drugged you, and she was also the one who sent me to your bed. She admitted it herself

Me? Ophelia instantly put on a helpless expression. It was me? No not me

Sister Vera, what should I even say? If you mean that I told you to drink the contraceptive medicine and not throw the bowl, then fine, I admit that part.

Just a few simple words from Ophelia completely destroyed the explanation Vera tried so hard to give.

Why didnt you drink the medicine?

Caius looked at the broken mess on the floor, his face dark with anger.

That wasnt contraceptive medicine. What Ophelia gave me was pregnancy preparation medicine. She admitted it herself just now

Enough!

Caius cut her off with an angry shout. Vera, when are you finally going to stop causing problems?

That single sentence completely blocked every explanation Vera tried to make.

The truth had been so close, and only then did Vera realize she had ignored the most important thing.

Caius loved Ophelia, not Vera.

Caius trusted Ophelia, never her.

Bring over all the boiled medicine.

After hearing his order, Ophelia poured the remaining medicine from the half-filled clay pot in the kitchen into bowls and carried them over.

Caius tightly held Veras chin with one hand, forcing her to lift her face and open her mouth.

The medicine tasted extremely bitter, but Vera didnt struggle.

Because resisting only brought something even worse.

He forcefully made her drink two full bowls of medicine. After swallowing everything, Vera fell onto the floor and stayed there for a long time before recovering.

Before leaving, Caius coldly dropped one sentence behind.

Clean this place up. For the next two days, no ones giving you food or water. If you did something wrong, then accept the punishment.

After that, only the cold sound of the door slamming shut remained.

Vera bent down to pick up the broken bowl from the floor, but her finger got sliced before she could grab it.

Drops of blood fell into the medicine, slowly spreading red through the soup.

She had already become used to this kind of punishment.

In the beginning, she resisted and kept trying to escape. The first time she broke out of confinement, Caius publicly brought her back and shut her inside for one whole month.

The second time she tried running away, Caius tortured her through three full days and nights during the full moon. By the end of it, she couldnt hold on anymore and ended up in the hospital.

After that, she started behaving quietly. Resistance was pointless, so she gave up fighting back.

Caius only punished her in one way, by locking her up.

Because only while she remained alive could Caius continue living, he never dared truly harm her.

Vera had already suffered even longer periods of confinement before. Although she had just gone through a miscarriage surgery and her body felt weak, she could still survive two days and nights.

Caius finally let her out on the third day.

After eating a little food, Vera went straight to the laboratory.

As soon as she opened the laboratory door, Vera stood there stunned.

The worktable, the cabinets, even the incubator room everything was in complete disorder.

All the test tubes had fallen onto the floor, the laboratory equipment had been smashed apart, the incubator room door stood wide open, and a revealing red lace underwear even hung from the door handle

Sister Vera, why are you standing there blankly? Did you finish the work Caius asked you to do?

Ophelia walked inside from outside the room, and the smug look in her eyes was almost impossible to hide.

After you finish your part, dont forget mine too. Last night wore me out badly. My waist still hurts, and I dont even have the strength left to work.

The entire place had become chaotic. Vera didnt waste time paying attention to Ophelias mocking words and rushed straight into the incubator room.

Once she noticed the undamaged incubator resting in the corner, she quietly sighed in relief.

Caiuss medicine was inside.

Only five days remained. After five more days, she could finally escape.

Veras emotionless response made Ophelia feel even more annoyed.

Vera, this is just the beginning. One after another, Ill hand you all the wonderful gifts I prepared.

Ophelia stepped closer and seized the front of her collar.

Even then, Vera still showed no extra emotion.

If she resisted, the punishment would only become worse, so she remained quiet.

Ophelia always talked about taking revenge on her. There were only five days left now. Maybe it would happen once she was gone.

At that point, she would leave the medicine behind, leave this place, and never let anyone disturb her again.

After speaking, Ophelia glared fiercely at her before turning around and leaving.

The disorder around the room also carried the unpleasant scent left after their intimacy.

After Vera moved the incubator into a more hidden spot, she carefully cleaned the room.

She hadnt taken the special gift Ophelia talked about seriously until that evening, when Vera's nude photos suddenly reached the trending searches.

The video from three days earlier, showing her painful struggle on the bed that night, was directly displayed on the huge screen at the national competition hall.

That clip suddenly popped out from a regular opening science video used in Ophelias competition entry.

And that same project had been stolen from Veras hands.

At the livestream venue, Caius smashed the projection screen with an ugly expression on his face.

The competition got canceled right there on the spot.

The event ended at six-thirty that evening. Exactly at seven oclock, Caius showed up in front of her.

Youre not going to explain?

Explain. Those two words painfully stabbed the weakest part of her heart like knives.

Explain what? Explain why the project I worked hard on for two months ended up being used by Ophelia in the competition?

Or explain why someone filmed what happened that night and intentionally played it on the giant screen?

Vera questioned him emotionally.

Keep pretending.

Continue acting!

Only your hands ever touched Ophelias project! And youre the only person living in this house. If you werent the one who installed the camera and recorded the video, then who else did it?

As Vera raised her voice, Caius also became more upset.

His big hand struck the living room table hard, making the glass cup on top fall and shatter.

That single sentence completely woke Vera up.

He still refused to trust her.

The hand that once protected her from everyone had now landed on her instead.

It truly hurt.

Teacher, stop wasting time. You dont trust me anyway, and I dont want to explain anymore. So how do you plan to punish me this time?

Lock me up? Or leave me without food and water?

Vera already stopped caring.

No matter how much she explained or how much proof stood in front of him, Caius still wouldnt trust her.

Since the ending was always her being punished, it was better to just speak directly.

That word, teacher, seemed to light his anger.

Caius grabbed her wrist and pushed her onto the sofa.

With a ripping sound, Caius instantly tore apart her clothes.

Vera, just because youre my antidote, do you really think I wouldnt dare touch you?

When her clothes were ripped open, Vera finally felt real fear.

Vera, didnt you release that video because you wanted everyone outside to know youre my weakness?

Wasnt it because you wanted people to know I cant stay away from you, so everyone would understand how important you are to me?!

The more Caius spoke, the rougher his actions became.

Vera wanted to explain, but the pain was too much. Too unbearable.

So painful that she couldnt even force out one begging word.

Only Vera understood how painfully long that night felt.

After that terrible night ended, Vera was already so tired that she nearly passed out.

This was Caiuss punishment for her. Even if touching her disgusted him so badly that he almost rubbed his own skin raw afterward, he still wanted to torture her until she couldnt even move properly.

Vera grabbed the torn clothes and tried covering herself, but the second she stood from the sofa, her body froze.

A tiny figure was standing by the doorway, staring at her.

Tears filled the little girls eyes as she silently looked at her.

Then Caius walked out of the bathroom, and the little girl suddenly cried out.

Dad, who is she? Dad, did you cheat?

Dad, dont you love Mom and me anymore? Did you become a bad person?

Auntie, Giselle already came here obediently. Please dont treat Dad like this again, okay? I dont want Mom and Dad to divorce

After saying that, the little girl cried and ran away without looking back.

Caius quickly put his clothes on and ran after her.

Before leaving, he only said one thing. Vera, even using a child against me, I have to admit your methods are cruel.

That one sentence completely pushed Vera into shame.

She dropped onto the sofa and laughed bitterly. She also wanted to say those same words to Ophelia.

Ophelia, I have to admit your methods are cruel.

After that day, Caius never came back again. He didnt lock her up or stop giving her food and water anymore.

Early the next morning, Vera forced herself up and went to the laboratory with her weak body.

During that short ten-minute walk, her personal information was exposed online.

The trending topic stayed online for a whole day and night. Nude pictures of Vera covered the laboratory windows.

Chicken blood was splashed all over outside the laboratory. The second she stepped out of the car, rotten vegetables and eggs were thrown at her from every side.

Getting hit by eggs on the head hurts badly. Vera got out of the car and quickly ran into the laboratory.

She thought everything would calm down after entering, but the moment she saw the destroyed laboratory and the torn experiment papers, she stopped cold.

The table was piled with resignation letters, and two large words were written across the blackboard: bitch.

All the hate crashed onto Vera. Step by step, she walked toward the incubator hidden in the corner.

Luckily, nothing happened to it. Four more days, and she would finally be free.

By then, she would leave for a place where nobody knew her, and all this humiliation would disappear.

As Vera stared at the results inside the incubator, a sudden pain stabbed her lower stomach.

Warm blood slowly flowed out. She was bleeding

She had never felt pain like this before. Cold sweat quickly covered her back.

Vera grabbed her phone and called 911.

But she had no time left. Blood had already soaked through her pants.

Vera forced herself to bear the pain and slowly walked toward the door, but the outside of the laboratory was already crowded with people.

Every one of them came to curse her, blame her, and punish her

Water could carry a boat, but it could also flip it over.

Only now did Vera truly understand those words.

Back when she stayed beside Caius, nobody dared lay a hand on her.

But now, everyone dared to hurt her.

Vera breathed hard and called the pinned number in her contacts.

Before the call could connect, the laboratory door opened from the outside.

The person on the other end of the call appeared in front of her.

Caius

Teacher save me my stomach hurts so much

Before Vera finished her words, Caius stopped her and walked right past her into the laboratory.

I came for the files Ophelia asked for.

He stayed only two minutes from entering to leaving. Even with blood spreading all over the laboratory floor beneath her, Caius never asked one question.

When the sound of the closing door echoed out, Vera finally collapsed onto the ground.

The pain was unbearable. Her lower stomach hurt, and her heart hurt too, so much that even breathing felt painful.

Later, the hospital ambulance arrived and carried her away.

By the time Vera woke up again, it was already the following day.

Vera pushed herself up from the hospital bed as the nurse stood beside her during rounds.

Heavy uterine bleeding, caused by frequent sexual activity after miscarriage.

The uterus was kept safe. If it happens another time, even a top surgeon like Caius cant save it.

Those were the nurses original words.

Vera laughed bitterly after hearing that final sentence.

Everything she had become now was because of him.

She looked at the time on her phone. Two more days had already passed.

Only two days were left before everything ended.

The following day, Vera was discharged from the hospital. While taking care of the paperwork, she bumped into Ophelia.

Ophelia had come to arrange hospital admission.

Caius held Ophelia with one arm while holding the little girls hand with the other.

Before this, Vera wouldve asked Caius why he never saved her

But after seeing their happy little family, she didnt want to ask anymore.

She was the sinner the child talked about, someone who could never openly appear beside him.

Sister Vera, Im pregnant.

Vera wanted to leave, but Ophelias words stopped her in her tracks.

Those words felt worse than public humiliation.

Vera stood there blankly for a moment, said nothing, then left.

After walking out of the hospital, Vera headed to the laboratory.

Until the day she left, Vera planned to stay there the whole time.

As long as she waited until tomorrow morning, the antidote would completely finish merging.

Looking at the little incubator, Vera unexpectedly felt tears sting her eyes.

She was leaving soon, but she couldnt feel any attachment at all.

After staying there for five years, other than the ID card in her hand, she strangely had nothing she could bring away.

The laboratory stayed quiet, while the outside sky slowly became dark.

Sleep slowly covered her, and she fell asleep on the empty laboratory table.

In the dream, the people who revealed her identity tied her up.

After tying her down, they placed her above burning firewood. The heat burned badly. No matter how hard she fought, it was useless.

When pain suddenly spread across her body, Vera opened her eyes at once. The laboratory had caught fire.

The huge fire swallowed the whole laboratory. The flammable chemicals inside the cabinets had all spilled out. The flames rose as tall as two people.

Vera had no time to think. She grabbed the experiment box in her arms and ran toward the door.

The door had been open. Just as Vera was about to run outside, Ophelia shut the door from the other side.

What are you doing, Ophelia?! Let me out!

Im going to burn alive in here! Open the door!

She screamed toward the outside, but nothing happened.

Vera, why?! How far do you want Caius to go for you?!

Doesnt he hate you? Then why does he panic so much after you faint?!

Why did Caius punish the people who exposed you and send every one of them to the police station?!

Why did Caius throw away the project he followed for five years just to save your uterus and personally do your surgery?!

Every word Ophelia shouted carried anger and hate.

But Vera, behind the door, could barely hear anymore She kept gasping for air, but the harder she breathed, the less air she got.

The burning doorframe suddenly collapsed and crashed onto the incubator in her arms.

As darkness slowly covered her sight, she heard glass breaking and someone calling her name.

Vera!

Vera, are you in there?!

That voice sounded so familiar. Was it Caius?

It was Caius.

He rushed inside and stopped in front of her.

Why are you still standing there?! Run!

Caius grabbed Veras hand and pulled her toward the window.

But the second he moved, Vera pulled her hand away.

Caius paused for a second and reached for her again, but she avoided him once more.

Vera! Are you insane?! Come with me now!

Vera cried. Caius had never seen her cry like this before, so helpless and broken.

Im not going! My medicine is stuck under there!

Do you want the medicine or your life?! Caius shouted. Let go! Drop the incubator!

Vera answered him by shoving him away.

I can finally be free. Do you know how much pain Im in?

Caius youve no idea how badly I hurt

Vera! Caius held her tightly. Im begging you, let me save you, okay?

No!

The harder Caius pulled her, the tighter she held the incubator.

Caius, if you drag me out of here, Ill never forgive you for the rest of my life.

Before she could finish speaking, darkness covered Veras eyes, and her body suddenly fell backward.

After that, Vera remembered nothing.

She barely heard Caius shouting her name over and over again.

When she opened her eyes again, Vera found herself on a hospital bed.

The little nurse saw she was awake and hurried over to do a quick examination.

There dont seem to be any serious injuries on your body.

But the man who came in with you was hurt very badly. His entire body suffered burns.

I heard he entered the laboratory to rescue someone. Even after saving the person, he still went back inside to look for an incubator, no matter how people tried stopping him.

Vera didnt react at first. But after hearing the word incubator, she quickly lifted her head.

The incubator now rested beside the hospital bed, and the medicine inside had already finished combining.

The moment Vera looked at the small tray of medicine powder, tears rolled down uncontrollably.

She had been unconscious for one whole night. Today was the final day.

She was free now.

Vera was free.

She climbed off the hospital bed and slowly walked outside, her body still stiff.

She didnt know where she was heading. She only knew this road would take her away from Caius.

The second Vera stepped out of the ward, Caius from the room beside hers was pushed into the operating room because his condition had suddenly gotten worse.

Before he entered the operating room, a message appeared on the phone left behind in his room.

President Morris, weve finished checking the surveillance footage from that night five years ago.

This was the last order Caius had given his assistant before learning Vera was nearly burned alive in the fire.

As Caiuss hospital bed passed by Vera, her eyes brushed over the face lying on the bed. Vera stood there like someone without emotions, unconsciously searching for that face in her memories.

She felt like she had seen him before, but his face had already been burned beyond recognition. Even if she remembered, she probably still wouldnt know who he was.

Vera shook her head. Other than freedom, there was nothing else left in her thoughts.

She used the two thousand yuan Caius left in the bank card to buy the farthest and most expensive plane ticket.

From the moment she left the hospital until she boarded the plane, she never once turned back.

Just like every time Caius punished her, she always walked away after slamming the door, never looking back.

Before the plane departed, Vera took out her phone and sent Caius a message.

The antidote is in the ward. Lets never see each other again.
