As the Moon-Blessed Luna of our pack, it was nearly impossible for me to conceive.

The moment I found out I was pregnant, I rushed home, desperate to share the news with Killian.

But as I reached the door, I heard his childhood sweetheart, Macy, whispering inside.

Killian, will she really be willing to give up her heart's essence for me?

His voice was cold, cutting through me like a blade.

"It's just a bit of blood and essence. She won't have a choice."

"If her blood wasn't the only thing keeping you alive, I never would have married her."

A heavy silence followed, then the sound of their breathless laughter.

I stood outside the door, my blood turning to ice.

Our sacred vows were nothing but a calculated lie.

"Luna, are you certain you want to break the Blood-Oath? Once it's severed, you can no longer sustain his life."

"The ritual nearly killed you when you first bound yourself to him. Breaking it now means giving up everything you sacrificed..."

I hadn't forgotten the pain, but my resolve was unshakable.

"I am certain. Break it now."

I was the Moon-Blessed Luna, born with a body meant to harbor the ancient Crimson Bond.

To save Killian's life years ago, I poured my life force into the ritual, placing the Master Bond within myself.

I let him live through the sub-bond, feeding off my very soul.

The moment the Crimson Bond was extracted, I felt my circulation finally ignite.

For years, I had been frail, constantly plagued by illness and exhaustion.

It was all because the Master Bond was draining my vitality to keep Killian strong.

Now, that debt was canceled.

Without my life force, the sub-bond in Killian's body would wither within a month.

"Shall we return to our ancestral lands, Luna?"

"Not yet. I have things to finish here."

On the walk back, my steps felt light, and color finally returned to my cheeks.

From a distance, I could hear the roar of a party coming from the penthouse.

Killian was throwing another one of his infamous celebrations.

When I pushed the door open, the music and laughter died instantly.

The pack members turned to look at me, the air thick with awkwardness.

"Oh, Nyra's back..."

"Hey, Luna, perfect timing. Come have a drink with us."

A glass was shoved toward my face, but I ignored it, my eyes locked on Killian.

He sat on the velvet sofa, his expensive suit perfectly tailored to his lean, athletic frame.

Even with me standing there, he didn't pull his arm away from Macy.

"Nyra, if the noise is too much for you, go stay at a hotel for the night."

I didn't say a word. I walked straight toward our bedroom to pack my things.

Behind me, the teasing started.

"Alpha Killian sure is dominant."

"Killian, you're getting married in two weeks. You should go comfort her, or she might get lonely."

Killian's disrespect toward me was a green light for his friends to treat me like trash.

They made crude jokes at my expense, and he never once stopped them.

Macy let out a sharp, mocking giggle.

"Killian only touches her because of that pathetic bond. He'd never choose her otherwise."

"Using bed tricks to trap a man is such a low-class move."

In the past, my eyes would have been red with tears, but now I just felt a cold amusement.

I stopped and slowly turned around.

Killian seemed to realize things were getting a bit too heated.

He frowned at me. "Macy, stop. Nyra and I are getting married in fifteen days."

Then he looked at me with that familiar, bored gaze.

"Nyra, Macy is just being blunt. Don't take it to heart."

"Is that so?"

I walked over to the table, picked up a full glass of vodka, and splashed it directly into Macy's face.

"Since your head isn't clear, why don't you wash it?"

"A little bitch sitting in another woman's man's lap has no right to speak to me."

The room went dead silent. Everyone was frozen in shock.

"Nyra! Have you lost your mind?"

Killian stood up, his face dark with rage as he wrapped his jacket around a shivering Macy.

He looked at me like I was a monster.

"Nyra, what the hell is wrong with you? She said a few words, and you attack her like this?"

"Killian... I didn't know Nyra was so sensitive. I shouldn't have come today..."

Macy sobbed, pulling away from Killian's arms and running out of the room.

The party guests quickly shuffled out, sensing the impending explosion.

"Nyra, you're becoming utterly unbearable."

"If anything happens to Macy out there because she's crying, I won't forgive you."

With that threat, Killian chased after her.

I let out a soft, genuine laugh.

Killian, everything I suffered was my own fault for loving a ghost.

From this moment on, that love is dead.

I went into the bedroom and started throwing my clothes into a suitcase.

A shaft of moonlight hit the floor, and I paused to look at the full moon.

It was the fifteenth.

In the middle of the night, the door was kicked open.

Killian flipped on the lights and stood by the bed, staring at me with suspicion.

"Why didn't you message me today?"

Killian knew better than anyone how much I used to worship him.

Years ago, he was in a crash that should have left him brain-dead.

I defied my entire pack to initiate the Crimson Bond.

It sounded like a lover's pact, but it was a brutal, parasitic magic.

Every mid-month, when the bond peaked, I would fall gravely ill for days.

Killian used to brag to his friends about how he 'wore me out' in bed.

He had no idea that every time he touched me, he was literally draining my life.

I remained silent, which only fueled his irritation.

"Are you deaf now?"

"If you hate Macy that much, I won't let her come around you anymore. Just stop this tantrum."

I couldn't help but scoff.

If I hadn't heard him talking about harvesting my blood, I might have believed him.

I looked him in the eye, my voice steady.

"Killian, let's end this. We're over."

He paused, then let out a sharp, mocking laugh.

"Nyra, how long are you going to keep up this boring act?"

"Everyone knows you'd do anything to keep me. This is a pathetic attempt to get attention."

He still didn't believe me.

I just shook my head and went back to my packing.

Killian, being the arrogant Alpha he was, wouldn't dream of apologizing.

He took a shower and went straight to his study.

"Hey, Macy, stop being mad. Did you get the package I sent?"

His voice drifted through the Bluetooth speakers in the bedroomDhe'd forgotten to disconnect.

Macy's giggling voice followed.

"You're so bad, Killian. You actually bought the sheer black lace set?"

Killian let out a low, suggestive chuckle.

"I'm coming over tomorrow night. Make sure you're wearing it for me."

I quietly reached out and turned the speakers off.

A dull ache throbbed in my chest, a final echo of a dying connection.

Killian didn't return to the bedroom that night.

The next morning, I walked out of the home we had shared for three years with nothing but a suitcase.

After checking into a hotel, I called my best friend, Pip.

I hadn't truly enjoyed life since I came to this city.

She booked a professional photographer, insisting we take some photos to celebrate my freedom.

But as soon as we reached the park, I saw a familiar silhouette.

At the same time, Killian spotted me. His expression shifted from shock to pure fury.

"Nyra, are you stalking me now?"

"You were crying for a breakup yesterday, and now you're out here with another man? Have you no shame?"

I didn't answer. I just looked at Macy, who was clinging to him in a provocative dress.

How did I ever fall for a man this shallow?

Macy smirked at me. "Nyra, if you wanted to join us, you could have just asked."

"There's no need to do something so desperate and embarrassing."

Her tone was dripping with fake pity, and Pip had heard enough.

"Stalking you? Get over yourselves!"

"Go find a corner to rot in and leave us alone."

Pip grabbed my hand and winked at the photographer.

The guy, sensing the vibe, took my other hand and held it firmly.

Killian's face turned a bruised shade of purple.

"Nyra! Do you have any idea what you're doing?"

He ground the words out, his voice thick with suppressed rage.

He tried to step toward me, but Macy held him back, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Killian, can't you see she's just trying to make you jealous? If you get angry, she wins."

"Remember how she hates it when we're together? Let's just go to a hotel tonight. That'll really show her."

Killian's eyes flickered with a dark, vengeful interest.

He looked at me, his voice full of threats.

"Nyra, apologize right now and I might forget this. Otherwise, I'm seriously reconsidering this wedding!"

I looked at him and asked a completely different question.

"Do you feel any discomfort in your body today?"

Killian laughed. "Don't worry about me. I can still go seven rounds a night, no problem."

He turned and walked away, pulling Macy close to his side.

"Ugh, what a tool. He's disgusting!"

Pip spat on the ground as they walked away.

"Don't be angry."

I felt absolutely nothing.

"He's a dead man walking. Let him enjoy his last few moments of glory."

Pip stuck her tongue out and gave me a wicked grin.

"Nyra, do you think his... you know... will stop working right in the middle of it tonight?"

I gave her a look, refusing to entertain the thought.

After a long day of fun, I headed back to the hotel.

As I was about to shower, my phone buzzed with a friend request.

I accepted it out of curiosity, and a video call immediately popped up.

It was Macy.

She was wearing the sheer black lingerie, her face flushed with triumph.

"Nyra, look at what Killian bought for me. Doesn't it fit perfectly?"

I could see the dark red marks all over her chest and neck.

Under the dim light, the scene was deliberately provocative.

When I didn't speak, she touched a mark on her neck and let out a fake little moan of pain.

"Oh, Killian! You bit me so hard. It still hurts!"

Killian's voice came from the shower in the background.

"I'll be even more thorough in a minute, babe."

Macy's smile widened.

I watched her writhe in front of the camera, a cold, mocking smirk playing on my lips.

"Macy, stop acting like a dog in heat. It's embarrassing."

Her face hardened, but she quickly masked it with a sneer.

"He loves me like this. He couldn't wait to strip me the second we hit the room."

"It's real passion, Nyra. Not that fake 'bond' you used to trap him!"

The sound of the shower stopped. Macy set the phone down and posed on the bed.

Killian walked into frame with a towel around his waist. Macy pulled him down for a deep, messy kiss.

I watched silently, counting the seconds.

The moment the clock struck midnight, Killian suddenly let out a strangled scream.

He collapsed forward, his head slamming into Macy's chest.

"Ow! Watch it, you're hurting me!" Macy giggled, thinking it was a move.

But Killian wasn't playing. His face was ghostly pale, his eyes wide with terror.

"My... my legs. I can't feel my legs!"

In his panic, he noticed the phone still on the bed.

Our eyes met through the screen. Killian's face lit up with desperate hope.

"Nyra! Nyra, help me! Save me!"

"Call an ambulance! Come here now!"

I shook my head slowly.

"We broke up, Killian. Aren't you having the time of your life?"

"I hope you stay this happy forever."

Ignoring his terrified screams, I hung up and blocked his number.

I had waited for this exact moment.

Killian, I'm taking back the life I gave you.

We owe each other nothing now.
