When my stepsister was nine months pregnant, she caught her brother-in-lawmy husbandcheating. To my shock, she was the one beaten so badly that the baby died in her womb, and even her uterus had to be removed.
Trying to save her, I went to confront him, only to have one of my legs broken in the process.
After she was discharged from the hospital, I took my stepsister home and gave her all the care and tenderness she deserved.
Later I even used my savings to buy her a house. My husband and I had a huge fight over it, and after that my stepsister was too afraid to come see me anymore.
Who could have guessed that on Thanksgiving night, while I laid out a whole table of food and wine waiting for my husband to come home, I received suggestive photos sent anonymously.
The people in the photos were my husband and my stepsister, tangled together in passion.
I stood there stunned for a long time, then went to the address the photos showed.
The moment I reached the door, I could hear the sounds of them enjoying themselves inside.
"Spencer, I'm pregnantthe baby's exactly three months along!"
My husband set down his bowl and pulled my stepsister onto his lap. "That's wonderful. Just remember to take good care of yourself during the pregnancy."
"Of course I will, but I'm afraid my sister will find out my secretthat my hysterectomy was fake."
"It's fine. When the time comes, we'll just tell her the baby's adopted."
"You know, we were actually the ones caught in the act back then. Good thing my sister never found out."
"And she even used her savings to buy me a house, so you and I could keep seeing each other in secret."

Section 1
Standing at the door, my ears stung from the truth that hit me out of nowhere.
Disbelief on my face, I nearly crumpled to the ground from the blow.
Luckily I threw out a hand and caught the wall, so I didn't end up looking even more pathetic.
The conversation inside kept going, but I didn't have the strength to make my feet move and step init was as if all the blood in my body had frozen.
I took out my key and slid it in gently, turned the knob, and left the door open a crack. Through that sliver, I lifted my eyes and looked in.
"Spencer, what would my sister do if she found out our secret?"
Amelia, in a tight dress, ran her hands all over Spencer's body, her voice low and seductive.
Nothing at all like the sweet, obedient little sister I always saw.
So it turned out she'd been acting in front of me the whole time, just to fool me.
"Don't get carried awayyou're pregnant."
Spencer reached out and pinned down her restless hand, but Amelia quietly opened her mouth and bit his ear.
"I asked the doctor. He said it's fine after three months."
Little by little, Spencer sank under her spell.
His face flushed all at oncethe heated flush of a man's desire.
"You little minx. So many tricks up your sleeve."
"Don't you ever stop to thinkthe man you've schemed so hard to seduce is your sister's husband?"
"I'm not related to her by blood, so there's no such thing as sister or not."
Spencer gave her thigh a slap. "Your sister got one of her legs broken by your ex-husband because of youbecause she was saving you. What an ungrateful little snake."
Amelia held him tight, her soft body squirming restlessly in his arms.
"I never asked her to help me. She was just flattering herself."
"Now when I go shopping with her, she comes hobbling along on that limp and drags down my image."
"Don't say that about her. She really does dote on you, after all."
"Haha, right! Doted on me so much she didn't even notice I stole her man."
"If she'd believed my wife back then and run out to the balcony to catch them in the act, she'd have known the other man was you."
"So she deserves to be a plaything in our hands."
With that, the two of them couldn't wait to wrap around each other, as though they wanted to knead one another into their very bones.
I felt like I'd been slapped hard across the facenot just humiliated, but pitiful and absurd.
I took out my phone and called Spencer.
He never once refused my calls, so he picked up right away.
I stepped into the hallway before I asked him, "Honey, when are you coming home for our reunion dinner?"
"Sorry, sweetheart, I'm tied up having dinner with a client!"
"Don't wait up for me, get some sleep."
"I promise I'll make time for you tomorrow."
And with that, he hurriedly hung up.
Tears crashed to the floor. I stared at that door and couldn't come back to myself for a long time.
Only then did I understandall those times I sat home waiting for him, when my calls got cut short in a hurry, it was because he was here with Amelia.
I lifted a hand to wipe my tears dry, fighting hard to control myself before I could make my feet move over there.
The wanton sounds of a man and a woman carried into my ears without missing a single word, and I pushed the door open again.
"Amelia!"
The passion in the room froze in an instant, and the sounds stopped.
"Ah! My sister's here."
The moment she said it, a rustling noise came from inside the room.
I started toward the door, but when I reached it, Amelia stepped out first and blocked my way.
"Sister, whywhy are you here at a time like this?"
"Isn't today Thanksgiving, our family reunion holiday? Why aren't you at home admiring the moon with your brother-in-law instead of running over here to me?"
Wasn't my man hiding in her room? And still she asked as if she didn't know.
Only now did I truly see how good Amelia was at lyingshe really could do it without a flush or a flicker of guilt.
That was exactly how I'd been taken in by her superb acting.
"Your brother-in-law didn't have time; he's at the company right now, having dinner with clients."
"I was bored on my own, so I came here to spend the holiday with you."
I clenched my fists as hard as I could, forcing my emotions down so I wouldn't lose my head.
"Is that so! Your brother-in-law really is something. He's always too busy to spend time with me, and now he won't even come home on such an important day."
As she spoke she reached out to steer me away from the doorway, using her natural acting to turn back the steps I wanted to take forward.
"Sister, if I were you, I'd never let it slide like this."
"I'd wait for him to come home and have it out with him no matter what."
If she'd said this before, I would surely have believed she meant well.
I had listened to her words too, and quarreled with Spencer a few times.
The result was only that I pushed Spencer further and further away, until he grew tired of me and turned to her, Amelia.
Her scheming was so dark that I could never guard against it.
"Men! It's only natural for them to be ambitious."
But Amelia wasn't satisfied with that.
"Sister, this isn't about ambition, it's about whether his heart still loves you"
"Amelia, never mind about me for now. Who were you in the room with just now?"
My question left Amelia stunned for a moment.
She wanted to change the subject, but I wasn't about to be foolishly fooled by her again.
"It'sit's my new boyfriend."
"Oh! You've got a boyfriend now? Then hurry and call him out to meet me. Let me have a look at him for you."
Amelia was instantly at a loss, panicking, not knowing what to do.
Because the man hiding in the room was my husband.
"Sister, thisthis"
She stammered for a while, unable to find any way to answer me.
But I stood up from the sofa and walked toward the room with a smile.
"I'll just go and invite him out myself!"
"I'm your older sister. This time I'll be sure to look him over properly, so you don't get deceived by a man again."
Amelia went pale with fright and hurried after me, trying to stop me.
"Sister, he doesn't like meeting strangers!"
I turned back to look at her. "Then that's all the more reason to let me meet him. A grown man afraid of strangerswouldn't that be a laugh if word got out?"
Right then I pushed the door open and went in, and Amelia trembled all over with fear.
But the room was empty, and behind me, Amelia quietly let out a breath of relief.
Anger surged up in me, and I felt sick inside.
"Sis, look, you scared my boyfriend off."
"I told you he doesn't like meeting strangers, and now you've frightened him."
"Lucky it was the second floor, with grass below to catch him, or he'd have broken his leg."
Since I couldn't catch anyone, I had no grounds to question them, so all I could do was apologize to Amelia, feeling apologetic.
She took my apology as her due.
It was getting late, and I should head back.
I didn't expect Spencer to already be waiting for me at home.
"Honey, where have you been?"
I tried to find some trace of an affair on him, but there was nothing.
Thinking of all the secrets he and Amelia shared, my attitude toward him began to change.
"I was bored, so I went out for a walk."
"And I ended up at Amelia's place."
"Turns out she's got herself a new boyfriend."
Spencer's face went stiff, and he forced up a smile.
"Really?"
"That's great. Now no one will dare try to steal my wife."
With that, he pleaded exhaustion and went in to shower.
I followed and stood at the door.
Spencer didn't shower at all. Instead, he picked up his phone and secretly made a call to someone.
"Little vixen, your sister almost caught us."
"We can't keep doing this at your place. It's too dangerous."
I don't know what the person on the other end said to him, but Spencer, though reluctant, still accepted it.
Only then did he put down his phone and shower in peace.
The next day, which should have been a weekend off, he went out under the usual pretext of working overtime.
This time, I followed him. My car trailed his all the way to the mall.
The moment Amelia saw Spencer, she took off running toward him.
"Ugh, I hate that being with you means sneaking around all the time."
"Can't you just break it off with that old woman? She's old, and she's got a limp."
Spencer bent his head and kissed her lips. "You're so wicked! How can you talk about your sister like that?"
"After all, she got crippled when your ex-husband broke her leg saving you."
Far from feeling any shame over it, Amelia laughed as if it were only right.
"That's what she gets for being stupid, just like her mother back then."
"She thinks my dad only married my mom as his second wife after her own mother died."
"But that's not what happened. Her mother caught my dad and my mom in bed together. She couldn't take on the two of them alone, and she fell down the stairs and died."
"Hahaha, who'd have thought history would repeat itself. I slept with her daughter's man, and the daughter's just as hopelessly stupid."
"So both mother and daughter were born stupid and worthless. Who's there to blame?"
Spencer reached out and pinched her nose. "You can be so filthy sometimes."
"But you like a filthy woman like me!"
"If Ava were seductive enough to stir up your desire, you wouldn't have come to me at all."
"So! If you don't decide to get rid of that old woman soon, I won't let you touch me."
With that, Amelia pushed Spencer away in mock petulance.
Spencer shook his head with a laugh and hugged her from behind. "All right, I'll give you the answer you want as soon as I can."
"It just can't be right now."
"My career is on the rise. The company has decided to promote one of usme or my archrivalto deputy president of the branch office."
"I got word that Bernard wants to promote me."
"Because the way I dote on my wife has built me the image of a perfect husband in his eyes, and his wife is very pleased with me too."
"So I can't kick that old woman out yet. I need her to help me keep up the perfect-husband image."
"Hmph, and haven't I helped you too?"
"To dig up information for you, I even sacrificed my body and slept with the higher-ups."
"Baby, I know how good you are to me, but this is all for our future too!"
"For the sake of our future life of luxury, I still need you, Mrs. Delgado, to go and put in another word with the higher-ups for me."
"Derek Sanchez is a tough one to deal with. His ability speaks for itself, so I'll have to use some dirty tricks to get the deputy president position."
Only then did Amelia let go of her displeasure and turn to wrap her arms around him.
Hidden in the shadows, having overheard all of this, I felt tears wet my eyes.
I wasn't crying over that despicable man. I was crying over my mother.
So it turned out she hadn't died from a stroke and a fall down the stairs. She'd been murdered by the woman I now called my mother.
And I'd known nothing. When my father brought her home, I ran myself ragged for her, cared for my stepsister, and made sure she never suffered the slightest bit.
I wiped my tears away. This would be the last time I ever cried.
"Here. This card was meant for her, but go ahead and take it and spend to your heart's content!"
Amelia broke into a delighted smile, took the card that rightfully belonged to me, and pulled Spencer into the mall.
I didn't follow. Instead, I got in touch with an old classmate.
She was the famous Iron Lady of her firm's legal team, and she had never lost a case.
I asked her about a great many things and learned a lot about the laws and regulations.
It was very late when I got home, but Spencer popped up and hugged me from behind. "Honey, where have you been?"
"Coming home this late."
He carried Amelia's distinctive scent all over him, and it disgusted me so much that I shoved him away.
Spencer was utterly taken aback, then, flustered for a moment, came over to ask me again.
"Honey, what's the matter? Are you upset that I've been too busy to spend time with you?"
"I'm doing all of this for our future, but I know I still have to make time for my wife."
With that, he pulled out a set of keys and dangled them in front of me.
"Honey, tomorrow's your birthday, and I bought you the newest model of car."
"I even told everyone at the company to come to your birthday party. Even my boss is coming, and he's bringing his wife!"
So that was the real reason he'd bought me the car. He truly never stopped calculating me down to the last second.
I gave a bitter smile, and he mistook it for excitement.
"Honey, I've got it all planned out. Once I get this promotion, I'm definitely buying you a big house."
I didn't listen to any more of his nonsense. I just turned and went straight into the bathroom.
The enormous secret I'd heard today was almost too much to bear.
But I wouldn't be broken by it, because their downfall hadn't come yet.
The next day, Spencer hired a stylist to do my makeup and get me dressed up, and to build up his good-husband image he even brought in an influencer to run a livestream.
He hadn't looked down on me for my limp, and he'd even set himself rules about staying chaste and above reproach, which was exactly why outsiders saw him as the model husband.
Standing beside me, Amelia listened to everyone in the room praising me in envious admiration, and the hands she'd hidden behind her back clenched until the veins bulged with rage.
She fought hard to hold down the fire of her jealousy and squeezed a smile onto her face.
"Wow! My sister is so beautiful!"
"If my brother-in-law ever dares to do wrong by her, I'll take a knife and chop him to pieces."
The viewers on the livestream instantly heaped praise on Amelia, applauding her for repaying her older sister's kindness! After my makeup was done and I came out in a haute couture gown, everyone downstairs called out their congratulations to me.
I walked down with a smile and answered each of them in turn.
Amelia slipped over to Spencer's side without a sound and reached out to grab his thigh.
She signaled him with her eyes to follow her.
I'd noticed their little moves long ago, but I didn't stop them. I let them do as they pleased.
I looked at the clock hanging on the wall, then opened the security feed on my phone.
I walked to a hidden corner and quietly watched to see what they were about to do.
Amelia tugged hard at Spencer's clothes, kissing him as she led him over to the very car that had been given to me.
"Why does she get to drive such a nice car? Why?"
"Amelia, stop it!"
"No, I want to do it with you in the car she hasn't even driven yet."
With that, she used every technique she'd ever learned in her life, leaving Spencer unable to refuse her.
Once their clothes were off, the two of them shut themselves inside my car and went at it to their hearts' content.
I closed out of the security feed, tapped through a few things on the screen, and locked the car doors completely.
I stepped outside. "Everyone, my husband asked me to bring you all over this way."
"He said he'd gotten me a mystery gift, and it needed everyone here as witnesses."
The VIP guests cheered at once and came along with me the whole way.
But just as we reached that mysterious gift, the car suddenly began to shake violently.
The wanton sounds, however faint, reached every single person's ears with perfect clarity.
"Holy crap! What the hell is going on?!"
