Lolas pov,

Maybe it was time to admit that she was lost. Lola had been walking for days in the Tongass forest. She had no more food, her feet were covered in blisters, and she had no idea where she was going. It was actually kind of funny that she thought this mission would have been an easy way to earn a million dollars but instead, she would die of starvation just weeks later. She had just stopped at a small creek to drink some water when she heard a sound in the distance.

She stood up and tried to listen, but it seemed like the sound of running footsteps came from all directions. In a matter of seconds, she was suddenly surrounded by women running toward her. They were running at her with full speed and there were too many to dive out of the way. Lola closed her eyes waiting for the impact of them smashing into her. But nothing happened and when she opened her eyes again, she saw they had all run past her. None of them slowed down and it took her a minute to realize they were running from something. She heard a new sound, louder this time but not like footsteps.

She sure as hell wasnt going to wait and see what they were running from! Adrenaline kicked in and she started running away from the sound. She should have trained more before making this trip. Her lungs were already burning after a few minutes of running.

Ieee, She shrieked from shock when a couple of wolves started running past her. She stopped and hid behind a tree because it was clear that she couldnt outrun those wolves. Her heart was racing when she saw wolf after wolf running after those women. At least she had found the werewolves but what the fuck did she end up in?

She had no idea werewolves would be this big. Somehow, she imagined them the size of normal wolves but these were at least twice as big. She now heard screaming coming from different directions so whatever the werewolves were doing to those women it wasnt anything good. Her eyes went left and right searching for a spot to hide. Her mind was racing, where should she hide? A tree? But what if they could climb and they probably could smell her if she hid in a bush or something. She closed her eyes for a second and tried to slow her breathing. When she shut out the screaming, she could also hear the sound of rushing water. There must be a waterfall nearby, she thought.

She ran towards the sound and felt relieved when she indeed found a large waterfall. She quickly ran through it, hoping the water would flush away her smell. Behind the waterfall was a large cave, Lola sighed and tried to relax a bit. Hopefully, her plan worked, and those werewolves would continue with whatever the fuck they were doing without her. Her heart just started to calm down when she saw a big werewolf-shaped shadow walking towards the waterfall.

She tried not to move and held her breath looking at the shape standing there. The shape put his nose in the air and started sniffing. It walked back and forth for a while and then stood still again looking straight at the waterfall. She saw the shape transform from a wolf into a man. She looked around the cave in panic for ways to escape. But immediately dropped her gaze back to the waterfall when she heard someone enter.

A big man walked in, and Lolas gaze went over his tanned wide shoulders and his muscular torso. She was shocked to see that the man walking towards her was completely naked! She glanced at his lower region quickly and wondered if it was a werewolf thing to have a dick that big? Maybe twice the size of a normal wolf also meant twice the size of a normal cock? She shook her head because she was having these ridiculous thoughts while she was probably about to get murdered. She focused her eyes on his face instead. He had black locks framing his face, grey almost silver eyes that were looking at her intensely, and a strong nose and jawline.

She had to admit that this man looked like he walked straight out of a model magazine. Why were psychos and killers always so gorgeous?

He walked closer to Lola devouring every inch of her body and face with a hunger she couldnt place. She started walking backward but it wasnt long before her back pressed against the end of the cave.

You are my mate! You are mine, the man growled in a low voice.

Which made no sense at all to her so clearly this guy had lost his mind. I am no ones property and I have no idea what you are talking about. I dont even know you! Lola snarled back at him.

His eyes became dark, and he was now standing so close to her that their foreheads were touching, It doesnt matter what you think. You are mine and you are coming with me!

Lola tried to push him away, The hell I am!

He grabbed her by the shoulders and before she knew it he bend down and she felt his sharp teeth biting into her neck. AAUW! What are yo..uu dooiiing? she screamed but before she could finish her sentence her vision went black.

Noahs pov,

Alpha, we have to go now otherwise we will be late.

Noah looked at his beta Dan and sighed when he stood up. He wished he could just skip the mate hunt this year. He knew every single she-wolf that would be there, and they all bored him to death. It had been the same disappointing experience for 5 years in a row. He actually made peace with the fact that he would probably never find his mate. However, as the Alpha of the Grey Oak pack, he had to be there. His pack was not only the biggest clan but also the leading pack.

He followed Dan to one of the entrances of the Tongass forest. The open field was filled with werewolves, there must have been at least a thousand of them. They all came from different corners of the country to be here. The mate hunt was one of the years main events for the werewolf clans. From the age of 21 wolves were permitted to join the mate hunt. You had to be 21 because your wolf had matured from that age, and you were ready to transform. When Noah walked into the field it immediately became quiet. They all made a path for him and bowed their heads in respect. His pack was feared and respected for a good reason.

He was already too late for the start of the ceremony where the male wolves got a chance to look at all the participating, she-wolves. Noah did not mind missing it because he was not interested in the she-wolves and the male wolves just annoyed him. They were a bunch of raging hormones ready to explode. It seemed like they couldnt keep their wolves in check so anything that came out of their mouths was talk about fucking their mate. He had been lucky with his wolf Achak. Achak meant spirit in Native American and he had always been a calm beacon for Noah. Since the day he transformed Achak had been something he could rely on. His thoughts got interrupted by a loud horn; the signal for the women to start running.

They all ran into the forest giggling and pretending to be scared. They did it so the male wolves would feel masculine. Most male wolves were too stupid to see that or simply did not care. 15 minutes later they got the signal that they could go and chase the she-wolves now. The other males quickly transformed and stormed into the forest barking and howling. Noah did not bother transforming and calmly walked after them. He could just as well take a nice hike now that he was in the forest anyway.

He went deeper into the forest when all of the sudden he sniffed something unusual. A smell that was more delicious and intoxicating than he ever smelled before. He felt Archak becoming restless which was not like him, so he decided to transform. As soon as Achak took over the smell was much stronger and impossible to ignore. The only thing he could think of was that he had to follow this delicious scent. He followed the scent to a tree and inhaled it deeply because it lingered there. With his nose on the ground, he kept following the scent until it brought him to a waterfall and the smell disappeared. Achak started to panic and howled from frustration, he needed to find the source of that smell! He walked back and forth until his gaze fell on the waterfall itself. What if there was something behind it?

Noah transformed back into human form, and he had a hard time thinking straight because Archak kept going crazy inside of him. Go in! Go! We have to find that smell again!

Noah annoyingly shook his head, Archak what is the matter with you? Calm down! I cant think.

He walked into the waterfall and his heart was racing in his chest. This smell could only mean one thing. He had lost hope over the years, but could it be?

As soon as he stepped through the water the scent hit his nose again. He opened his eyes and saw the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen. She had long wavy black hair until her middle, caramel-colored eyes, and a full sensual mouth. She was not from any of the packs he knew because he would have remembered her for sure. He knew from the moment he laid eyes on her that he had found his mate. She was wearing baggy clothes and she was covered in dirt, but she was still the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

Her eyes went over him quickly before she tried to scan the cave for an escape. He wanted to tell her she shouldnt be scared, that he would not harm her. But Achak was going crazy in his mind and the smell was so overwhelming that he was only able to voice what Archak was barking at him.

You are my mate! You are mine! he said which only scared her more and she started walking backward. She quickly noticed that she was trapped against the back of the cave and her eyes went from scared to angry, I am no ones property and I have no idea what you are talking about. I dont even know you!

He walked closer but the smell only became more intense. The scent of vanilla mixed with honey clouded his mind and before he knew it, he walked so close that his forehead touched hers. Achak kept barking inside his head, We have to take her! She is ours! Quickly before anyone steals her from us! We have to mark her now!

So again, he sounded like an idiot when he blurted out, It doesnt matter what you think. You are mine and you are coming with me!

She tried to push him away and yelled at him, but he had such a hard time keeping Achak in check that he didnt even notice anymore. He then let his concentration slip for one second and Achak took over and quickly bit the woman in her neck. Making sure she was marked as his. She screamed in pain and tried to say something but before she could end her sentence she fainted.

Noah carefully caught her in his arms while boiling over with anger against his wolf. ACHAK, ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE? WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT AND WHY DID YOU NOT LISTEN?

All he got back was his wolf purring happily, Our mate. Completely ignoring him like he was a fucking imbecile.

He shook his head and looked at the woman lying in his arms. He softly caressed her face and couldnt help smiling. She was clever for seeking the water to mask her scent. Besides that, she had shown him that she had some strength in her. Noah felt hopeful for the first time in a long while. It seemed the moon goddess had blessed him with the kind of mate he desperately needed right now.

Lolas pov,

Lola woke up from the sound of women chattering. They all sounded so excited and happy. The last thing she remembered was that man biting into her neck like she was some kind of snack. She kept her eyes closed for a bit and tried to listen to what these women were talking about.

I am so happy Dan is my mate. I acted like I didnt want him, and he loved it! They like to feel in charge you know. So, I pretended to be super scared, and it made him want me even more, A voice said.

Another voice responded, I know Gavin could not keep his hands off me. He could not control himself, so he took me right there against the tree. I said no but I kind of liked it.

Lola was wondering what kind of imbeciles they locked her up with. Talking about rape and encouraging Alpha male behavior like it was something good. A third voice joined the women, You guys are proper insane you know. You cant really be this shallow that your only wish is to be used by your mate.

Ow shut up Fenna. You are just jealous because you ended up with some low-omega wolf that spends his time with his nose buried in a book. I doubt you will get any hot sex from him.

The third voice snorted, Whatever you say, Deborah. I am sure I would rather have some low-ranked nerd than a mate who will hit me if I speak my mind.

Lola was glad there was at least one person in there that was not completely insane. She decided she heard enough of this bullshit, and it was time to open her eyes. She sat up from the bed and saw that she was locked up in a cabin with about 50 other females. Three of them were sitting next to her bed and immediately stood up when she woke. A blond, slim female with a beautiful face smiled at her with the fakest smile she had ever seen. So, she assumed that was Deborah. Deborah squealed, Girls! She woke up!

All the women now got up and tried to get closer to the bed she was sitting on. They were all staring at Lola with anticipation, and she was wondering what the fuck was going on? Deborah stared at her for a while and then asked, So? Arent you overjoyed?

Lola looked at her confused, Overjoyed about what exactly?

Deborah playfully slapped her knee, Ow come on I know you are not from here, but you must be so thrilled you got mated with the Alpha of the Grey Oak pack! I mean it has been every girls dream for the last 5 years to get chosen by him.

Lola looked at her dryly, Wow your lives must suck ass then if that is the ultimate dream here.

A girl with short black hair, blue eyes, and glasses chuckled and said, Oh I like you. Hard to find someone with a brain around here. My name is Fenna. She held out her hand and Lola shook it.

Lola.

Deborah coughed and looked at them annoyed, I dont think you understand. You got mated with the Alpha of the Grey Oak Clan. Which is not only the biggest clan but also the leading clan.

Lola started to get annoyed as well now, Well I dont want him, so you take him if you like him that much.

All the women gasped and Deborah her face went pale, You should not say such things! One cannot say no to Noah Grey.

Fenna scraped her throat, Well technically she could. It is werewolf law that at the mating ceremony which takes place a month after the hunt, both parties can deny the mate bond.

Deborah growled, You and I both know it doesnt work that way in real life Fenna!

Another woman quickly avoided an argument by saying, But why would you want to deny Noah Grey? I mean he is so handsome. I would not mind laying my hands on those abs.

The other women quickly added in, and they all started to talk enthusiastically about how dreamy Noah grey was and how lucky Lola was to get chosen.

The chattering immediately stopped though when spoken of the devil, Noah Grey walked in. He did not look at any of the women, his eyes were fixated on Lola. Everyone get out, I want to speak to my mate, he said.

They all ran out of the cabin as fast as possible like a bunch of trained puppy dogs. Fenna gave Lola one last look and gave a thumbs up behind Noahs back before closing the door behind her.

Noah was wearing black sweatpants and a grey shirt and even though he was not naked this time she could still see all his muscles through his shirt. He seemed a bit less feral than the last time she saw him. He walked to her and brushed her hair to the side to look at her neck, Are you okay? Does it still hurt?

She slapped his hand away, Dont even think about touching me! You always bite women when you meet them? Is it like the special Noah introduction?

She could see the confusion in his eyes like he wasnt sure whether he should be annoyed or amused by her comment. He took a step back to give her some space, but his eyes were locked on hers.

So apparently you know who I am. How come I do not know who you are? Where do you come from?

Lola took a deep breath, and her mind went back to what happened a couple of weeks ago.

Lolas pov,

Lola slammed the door of her foster parents house and walked into the street. They could never just leave her alone. She had only been with them for 3 months and they thought they could tell her what to do. They thought bible study would be an effective way for her to get in line. Lola knew that they would give up on her eventually anyway, they always did. Luckily, it was not much longer now because in a week she would finally turn twenty-one. Which meant she could finally decide for herself what she wanted to do.

Not that she knew what she was going to do. She had no education or skills because she always had a problem with following rules. For as long as she could remember she tried to fight regimes. At least she was talented at bringing out the worst in people. She drove many workers at the orphanage, foster families, and teachers nuts. But whatever happened at least she would be free. She would rather be homeless than live by other peoples rules. Besides, she could always crash with one of her old hookups. She kept walking until she reached the park which was completely abandoned at this hour. She sat down on a bench and closed her eyes for a second to enjoy the quiet and fresh air.

When she opened them again, she jumped up because a man was suddenly sitting next to her. Which was strange because she had not heard him at all. The man took off his hat and looked at her, Good evening, Lola.

How do you know my name?

He smiled at her, We have been studying you for a while to see if you would be the right fit.

A chill went through her spine when he said they had been studying her, The right fit for what?

For a social experiment with a reward of 1 million dollars for participants.

He handed her a card with an address, If you are interested come to this address in a week on your birthday.

Lola looked at the card and wanted to ask him what kind of experiment but when she looked up the man was gone. She looked left and right but there was no trace of the man. Mm strange, she thought.

She stuck the card in her pocket and decided to walk home. There was no way she was going to go there next week. We have been watching you? Hell nah, that was just way too creepy.

The rest of the week Lola tried to focus on her plans for after her birthday but for some reason, she couldnt get the million dollars reward out of her head. If she did that experiment, she would never have to worry again. She could be free and live her life the way she wanted to. She googled the address and that led her to a science building about an hour away. So, she thought, It seems that he was not lying about it being a social experiment. Oh, what the hell I should just go. I can at least listen to what the experiment is about and if I dont like it, I will just leave.

A week later Lola stepped out of the bus in front of the science building. The doors were locked but at the entrance hung a camera. After a few minutes, the doors automatically opened for her. She walked into some kind of waiting room where 3 other people were already waiting. A tall guy with blond hair and the most symmetrical face she had ever seen. A woman with chocolate-colored skin and fascinating enough bright blue eyes. And a man with dark hair and dark eyes. The blonde guy smiled at her, while the woman seemed shy and looked away quickly.

The man with dark eyes gave her a charming smolder and walked towards her. They said we were waiting for one more person, but I have to say you are definitely worth waiting for.

His eyes went over her body with approval, and he kissed her hand, My name is Dante. Nice to meet you.

Lola looked at him amused; he was her usual type. Charming, mysterious, and full of red flags, Lola.

The blond man also stood up and shook her hand, I am Elias. Dont be too impressed by Dante he used the same flirting technique on me.

Lola laughed and Elias pointed at the other woman, This is Idalia.

Hi, she said with a shy smile.

Lola sat down and looked at the others, So anyone know a bit more about this experiment?

Dante shook his head, Nope just here for the million-dollar reward. Dont really care about the experiment.

Elias looked at the door, I just hope they dont let us wait much longer because I want to go celebrate my birthday.

Lola stared at him, It is also my birthday.

Mine too! Dante and Idalia said at the same time.

They all stared at each other because that did not seem like it was a coincidence. No one said anything until an attractive woman in a tight suit walked in. She had beautiful long red hair and full lips. The suit showed off her curvy body and Lola saw both men staring at her with desire. The woman smiled and said, Hi everyone, my name is Feline. We are ready for you now so if you would please follow me?

She walked towards one of the doors her hips swaying with every step. Lola quickly walked after her and the rest followed. They went into a room with some chairs and a beamer. They all sat down, and Feline turned off the lights and put the beamer on. On the screen, Lola saw images of wolves, blood, trees, and a witch symbol of a star. She really started to wonder what kind of weird experiment this was going to be.

Feline scraped her throat, So I am guessing you are all wondering what this experiment is all about. For you to understand I have to tell you some history first. Thousands of years ago humans were not the only species that lived on earth. There were also werewolves, vampires, fae, and witches. These creatures believed themselves to be superior to the human race and wanted to enslave them. Humans learned of their plans and war broke out. Thanks to science the human race was able to survive while the other species went extinct.

Dante interrupted her, Sorry but what is this? You want us to know the history of a potential fairytale story or something?

Feline looked at him dead serious, No this happened in real life, Dante. Those creatures existed.

Why have I never heard of it then if you say its only been a few thousand years ago? Lola asked.

Because the generation that survived decided it would be better if humankind forgot they ever existed. Humans have always been attracted to any kind of superiority or magic, so it is better if we do not know there is something greater possible than ourselves.

Lola looked at Dante and she saw in his eyes that he shared the same thoughts as her. That woman belonged in a psychiatric hospital because she was clearly delusional.

Elias put his hand on Lola her shoulder, Just let her continue. Cant be any harm in that.

Feline gave him a grateful look, Thank you, Elias. I know it all sounds crazy. Anyway, recently there have been a lot of incidents that make us suspect that those species still exist somewhere. What we need from you is to find out if they do. You will look for them for a year and whether you find them or not after that year each of you will receive a million dollars.

And how exactly should four people find those magical creatures? You seem to have a lot of money and science at your disposal why do you need us? Lola asked.

Feline smiled at her again, but Lola saw she saw also balling her fists so that smile was not sincere, Good question Lola. All four of you have been carefully selected because of your DNA. After the war, we made sure to collect DNA from the creatures we just talked about. Each of you is a perfect match with one of the species. We will insert this DNA into you so that it will be easier for you to find these creatures if they exist.

Feline walked to the door and opened it, I will give you some time to think. I will be back in 10 minutes and then I expect an answer.

She closed the door behind her, and Lola looked at the other 3 in shock.

Lolas pov,

You guys cant really believe this bullshit? Dante asked the rest.

Idalia looked at the screen dreamy, I dont know I always hoped that magic existed.

Elias replied, I dont know if I believe it, but I am always in for an adventure, especially one where I get to travel and get a million dollars as a reward.

I do not believe it but what if it is true? Dont you all think they are being a bit secretive? Like those incidents that indicate that these species still exist. What kind of incidents? Besides that, what happens when you get inserted with the DNA? Will you actually become a vampire or whatever? Lola blurted out.

Elias stared at her, You really dont trust people, do you?

Dante gave him a warning look, She is just being smart. It is good to ask questions. Just ask them when she comes back, Lola. As for me, I do not believe it for one bit so I will say yes because sounds like an easy way to earn a million dollars. Just look for something that doesnt exist and get some placebo injected.

What if they insert something else like poison? Lola thought but then again how would that benefit the scientists? There probably was not some secret subplot because what would they have to gain from a poor orphan like her? So, either they were insane, and she would have earned a million dollars the easy way, or what they said was actually true.

Before she could say anything, else Feline came back into the room. I hope you all made up your minds. This will be the only chance we offer. Is there someone who likes to leave?

They all looked at each other but no one spoke up and said that they did not want to participate. Feline clapped her hands, Lovely then lets begin. Follow me.

They all followed her out of the room into a hall with different colored doors. A bunch of employees approached them and led them all to a different door. Wait, we are not doing the experiment together? Lola asked.

No, you all have separate journeys to take. You will see each other again in a year.

Lola stared at the others, and she was surprised she actually felt sad to leave the others. She usually did not get attached to people but somehow, she felt connected to the three people she just met. They all exchanged a last glance before they got pushed into separate rooms.

It was a small room with just a chair and a tv. The employee helped her into the chair and started preparing some fluids. What incidents were they talking about that indicated that these species still exist? Lola asked.

The employee did not even look at her, That is classified information.

He pointed at the screen which showed a map, So Lola. Your DNA had a unique resemblance to werewolf DNA. The DNA will give you the ability to transform into a werewolf. All we know about werewolves is that they used to live in packs and have a strict hierarchy inside these packs. Basically, Alpha and Luna are the highest, then beta and omega is the lowest. As far as we know they could transform whenever they want, and the status of the moon had no influence. They lived in rural areas far away from civilization, preferably forest areas. We suggest you start looking at the biggest forest right here; the Tongass forest. We will give you money and food for the journey. Lastly, you will get a silver ring that you need to wear. When we want to contact you, this ring will light up. When it does, make sure you find a private place and answer by just stating your name.

He prepped the syringe and walked to her. Lola her head was spinning, and she wanted to ask so much more but he already stuck the syringe into her arm. She felt a little pinch and a cool liquid enter her arm. The employee put a bandage on, gave her the ring and her backpack.

Everything you need is in there. When you walk out of the other door you will be outside. It can take a few hours before the serum works. Good luck.

Lola stared at him with an open mouth and said annoyed, Wait thats it?

He did not even listen anymore and just left the room, so Lola picked up the bag, put the ring on her finger, and walked through the other door. Lola stood still for a moment when she felt the sun shining on her face. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth. She did not feel anything yet, but they said it could take a while. She waited outside for a while hoping she would see Elias, Idalia, or Dante. Unfortunately, she never did so she started to walk to the bus. Her first vehicle on the way to Tongass forest.

It took her a week to get to the forest, then she walked the tourist route for a week before she decided to go off the path. That had been 6 days ago. She was now lost, hungry and still she felt normal. Not even the tiniest sign of turning into a werewolf. She just had a hysterical outburst of laughter because she fell for the delusions of some lunatic organization. Instead of becoming a millionaire, she would die here all alone from starvation looking for something that did not exist.

Lolas pov,

So apparently you know who I am. How come I do not know who you are? Where do you come from?

Lola her mind was racing she had no idea how to answer that. It was probably best to stay as close to the truth as possible.

My name is Lola; I am an orphan. Grew up in Minnesota, I have had multiple foster families over the years, but I never felt like I belonged. I turned 21 recently which meant I was finally allowed to decide for myself what I wanted to do. So, I decided I wanted to travel. I always loved nature so I thought it would be cool to visit the Tongass forest. It was cool until I got lost and ended up being chased and bitten by a maniac.

Noahs eyes narrowed, Wait you did not know werewolves existed?

No, I thought they were just tales from stories.

He gazed into her eyes deeply like he was looking for something for a few minutes, You are a werewolf yourself though. I can sense your wolf, but it is buried somehow. You have not transformed yet then?

Lola shook her head and Noah continued, I can help you with that, but it is a concern for later. A werewolf growing up amongst humans is unlikely but not impossible. You better not be lying to me because I will find out. I have spies everywhere.

Lola rolled her eyes, Whoo considered me warned. I am now trembling with fear.

You better work on your attitude Lola. Disrespecting someone in a higher rank is not accepted amongst werewolves.

He sat down on the bed and said, Anyway, there is a party tonight to celebrate the new mate bonds. At the party, one of the holy priestesses will ask you if you accept the mate bond but the official decision will be in a month. If you dont show up it means you have accepted.

Lola doubted that was true, but she couldnt take the risk because maybe this fucker was actually telling the truth, So I can deny this so-called mate bond whatever it is?

He stood up and looked at her annoyed, The mate bond is the most sacred union there is. It means the moon goddess has found two souls so perfect for each other that they will be as one. But yes, the law says you can deny it if you want but that never happens because the souls are matched for a reason.

Sounds like a very romantic excuse for hunting, claiming, and raping women.

He growled, I am not a rapist, and I would never touch you against your will. I just know that you will be begging me too before the month is over.

Lola laughed, You really are delusional.

He just gave her a smug smile, opened his backpack, and threw her a white girly dress, You will wear this. It matches my outfit so they will know that we are mates.

Lola threw back the dress in his face, Ow no I am not.

He walked to the door and grinned at her, You either wear the dress or go in your underwear. Your choice. The party starts in an hour.

He slammed the door and Lola lifted up the blankets realizing she was only wearing a black lace bra and thong. However, she was definitely not going to wear that virgin dress like she was some submissive cunt that loved to be his mate. So, underwear it was!

Noahs pov,

Noah slammed the door and had to calm down his breathing. My god that woman was a handful. He asked for a mate that would not bore him. Well, that mission was accomplished, she was probably going to drive him crazy. Luckily, he took some herbs from the priestess before visiting her to keep Achak calm. Otherwise, he would not have been able to stay as calm when she went against everything he said. He could not have her talk to him like that at the party though. She walked Lola to a secluded cabin made of big logs. It looked big enough to house an entire family and there were beautiful symbols carved into the wood. Noahs pov,

Noah was wide awake staring at the ceiling. I am not that desperate, he said to Lola. Well, fuck he was that desperate. All he wanted to do was run to her room, take her in his arms and kiss her. The image of her walking around in his shirt burned in his mind. He turned and twisted for hours before exhaustion finally caught up with him.

The next morning, he took a shower and draped a towel over his hips when he was done. He walked out of the bathroom and bumped into Lola. He had to wrap his arms around her to make sure she wouldnt fall. She was pressed against his bare chest which was still burning hot from the shower. She quickly pushed him away with red cheeks and said, Watch where you are going.

He noticed she was still wearing his shirt, Sorry Lola. I see you became rather attached to my shirt.

She looked down and her face became even more red, It was just comfortable to sleep in, okay?

She pulled the shirt over her head and threw it at him. She was now standing in front of him in a dark blue hipster and bralette. He swallowed and tried to think straight, You can keep it if you .. but before he could finish his sentence all his blood went below and his towel was levitating.

Lola stared at his towel with big eyes and then started laughing. Noah felt embarrassed but also started laughing from awkwardness which made her laugh even harder. She was still chuckling when she went into the bathroom and shut the door. Noah rubbed his face and wondered why he behaved like such an idiot when she was around.

He had some breakfast and then went out because he needed to visit some other packs today for business. He came back later in the afternoon when it was time for his pack to do a wolf run together. They had certain days when the whole pack transformed, and they ran together. It was good for the unity of the pack. Noah looked forward to it today because he really needed Achak to let off some steam. It had been hard dealing with his wolf since Lola was around.

His heart skipped a beat the moment he saw Lola was there to watch the wolf run. She truly was beautiful with her long black hair blowing in the wind and her caramel eyes glittering from the sunlight. He had a hard time looking away from her, but it was time to behave like an Alpha now in front of his pack. They all waited till he transformed so they could follow him. He breathed in the fresh air and let Achak take over before storming into the forest. Dan followed him barking and soon he heard barking and howling from all directions.

Achak was a glimpse of grey fur sprinting through the forest. Running through fields covered with flowers going faster and faster until they reached the mountains. He climbed and ran until his lungs could take no more and then howled to let them know it was time to turn back. All the wolves turned around and enthusiastically started to run again. Everything was great until right at the end he heard some commotion in the form of growling and angry barks. They came back at the starting point, and everyone started to change back to human form. Noah scanned all his pack members to see if anyone was hurt when Dan marched out of the forest with one of the lower-ranked pack members over his shoulder. The omega his name was Peter and Noah knew him as shy, so he wondered what he had done to piss off Dan.

Dan threw Peter in front of Noah and growled, This low life dared to run past me.

Peter was trembling, I am sorry I did not mean to I just got too enthusiastic.

Dan spat at his face, You need to be reminded of your place.

Tristan spoke up, Come on Dan, he said it was an accident I am sure he will not let it happen again.

Dan his eyes became dark with anger, and he turned to Tristan, How dare you talk to me like that?

Peter cried out from pain when Dan broke his bone and Noah heard Lola scream. She tried to run to Peter so Noah commanded Fenna and Deborah to take her home. When he looked into her eyes, he saw the same disgust and anger reflected that he felt inside him. He sighed and ordered some other wolves to bring Peter to the healers. Dan wanted to talk to him after that, but Noah went for another walk until he reached the lake. He needed some time to be alone and think. He did not know how much longer he could keep playing this cruel role. Especially now he found his mate and she just thought he was an asshole. To be fair he could not blame her.

He returned hours later and secretly visited Peter at the healers. Peter was sitting on one of the beds with his wrist in a cast. He would not be able to transform for a while which was torture for a werewolf. You okay Peter? he asked.

Peter did not dare look at him and whimpered, Yes Alpha Grey.

He was just sitting there waiting in fear of whether there would be more punishment. Noah hated that everyone was just scared of him, but it was necessary. The only thing he could do was ease Peter his pain, so he told the healers to give him some pain-relieving herbs before he went home.

As soon as he walked through the door of his house Lola came at him like an angry firecracker. She started hitting him in his stomach which of course did not hurt him physically. Her eyes were dark with anger, and she shouted, What the fuck is wrong with you? How could you do that to him? You just stood there and let that maniac break his arms like it was nothing. And for what? Because he ran past him? Seriously, I have never heard something more fucked up.

Her nostrils went wide with every breath like she was breathing fire before she continued, I dont get you are you bipolar or schizophrenic? How can you go from some overgrown puppy stuffing himself with cookies to this cruel monster in just a day?

Noah sighed and softly pushed her to the side, I cant do this right now Lola.

He walked past her to his bedroom and slammed the door.

Lolas pov,

Lola was still fuming with anger after Noah left. If there was anything she hated, then it was picking on the weak. That boy did absolutely nothing wrong. Who cares that he ran past Dan? She really did not understand these werewolves at all. She also had no idea what to make of Noah. One moment he seemed witty and nice and the other moment he acted like some Alpha male that had to act mean to make up for his tiny dick.

One thing she did love was seeing everyone transform into their wolf form. They all looked careless and free; she couldnt wait to transform herself. Luckily Noah had arranged for her to go to some transformation class tomorrow. Which was also good because it meant less time with Deborah who was boring her to death. Today she made Lola do some kind of roleplay where Deborah played the Alpha and Lola had to give respectful responses. It can happen that the wolf needs to be triggered because of a traumatic event in the past. But no need to worry about that because only 5 percent of the wolves have problems transforming. Lola listened carefully to the rest of the lecture. She wanted to remember everything Tristan said because the only cool thing from this experiment so far was the transformation. Lola slowly started to calm down while she enjoyed the feeling of his strong arms around her. Sleep caught up with her and before she knew it, she woke up from the sun shining on her face. His grey eyes shifted to her mouth and then back to her eyes. Lola held her breath while she felt electricity take up the air between them.
